Nobody's Lookin'

LOOKBOOK is a capricous sort of place.
First off, to be a part of the book of looks, one must be cordially invited. But of course, one has to apply first.
How interesting.

I know what I like and what I dislike. If you don't know what you dislike, how are you supposed to to know what you like? It's good to have a little of both.
I often find myself shocked by the looks some people post on LOOKBOOK, & I can't help but ponder over what these people were thinking when they were taking pictures of themselves. Nonetheless, the capricous personality of LOOKBOOK allows style to cultivate its own niche in this image-obsessed reality.
Perhaps I am just not cut out for a future on LOOKBOOK. I'll stick to feeding my dog.

WPP-I

This is a new weekly feature!
It is called the weekly picture pick.
Each of us chooses two pictures that we have found through surfin' the web, and we post them here for your viewing pleasure.
It's gonna be on Tuesdays - at least that's the plan, but have you seen our posting habits? Not exactly precisely time-managed.

Lily is Legal

She has turned EIGHTEEN. Thus, I give you
eighteen things about Lily.

1. She spends about 100 hours a day (yes, in a 24 hour day) reading blogs.

2. She has taught herself to play the harmonica. Adelvice is my favorite.

3. She is a hardcore carnivore and loves a good cut of meat. Her favorite restaurant is Manny's Steakhouse: here she is able to pick her kill before it is cooked and marinated, and the waiter brings the raw meat to her table on a cart. This is where she ate dinner tonight.

4. She is obsessed with triangles and wooden objects.

5. She has a collection of vintage bandaid tins.

6. She is the ONLY person I can shop with. Vintage that is. We understand eachother's style and personal choice of garb.

7. She writes the best letters, and I keep every one of them.

8. She hauls wood at her grandma's house up North every year.
And she eats hearty soup afterwards.

9. She has the best luck with Ebay than anyone I know.

10. She has a extensive collection of brightly colored wind breakers in her closet. I've witnessed her purchase...well, almost all of them.

11. Don't try to contact her after 10:30pm, she sticks to an early bed time.

12. She wears a neon green piece of string around her left hand. It's been there for over a year now.

13. Her favorite movie: Fight Club.

14. She always gets sick after she goes to the Tea Garden with me.

15. Her desert of choice: banana cream pie.

16. She is infatuated with idioms and UPPERCASE LETTERS.

17. She has an acute eye for design and typography. This talent will take her far.

18. She is one of the wittiest people I have ever met. Nobody could ever match her sense of humor.

Lily, happy eighteenth birthday.
You have inspired me, humored me, and complained with me,
you are sincerely the best Lily Jane out there.

With love,
Keela

II

When I find a new blog I like I read the archives in entirety. Do other people do that? I think they must. One page is not nearly enough to form an opinion from.

I wonder if I get across what I mean to the way I think Michael Williams does. You tell me.
Lily

Lily says she loves reading blog archives in their entirety, yet she is the one who posted about reading Tavi's Style Rookie in its entirety...and she became fashion sick. Interesting.

What I love: When people spontaneously sit down at a piano and make music. Two friends did just that this weekend.
"Lily's Eyes" from the Secret Garden. Magical.
I just turned pages.

Another thing I love: The colors of the sweet peppers I chopped up for our dinner salad.

Lugged Belongings

Luggage-
Something that is lugged; especially: suitcases for a traveler's belongings.

I adore vintage luggage sets. The idea of traveling to a far away place with matching luggage is so...marvelous!

It's hard to find decent vintage luggage these days, and the black rolling suitcase I currently own just doesn't cut it.
Thus, I went on an Ebay pursuit...much harder than it sounds.
BUT, I found THIS. My heart did several cartwheels.

I WANT THIS, BADLY.
I am currently "watching" it on Ebay,
and the bidding ends in 2 days and 3 hours.
But in the world of Ebay, things can go down the porcelain throne in the blink of an eyeball, so my hopes aren't too high.
That's a lie. They are, too high. Soaring far above the Earth's atmosphere right now, I can't seem to reign them in. This is bad.

So feel free to pray for me and this bag.
It would be much appreciated.

Keela

I have a weird thing for bags, I buy new ones far too often and really- I don't have all that much to carry. For instance, a couple of weeks ago I bought an old Boy Scout Haversack at an antique store, I had to.
But travel bags are a whole different thing, they need to be just right, and more often than not insanely expensive.

I want leather, soft sided- but structured, brown (or orange) luggage. A matching set, a bag like the last one up there is the most important piece . But again, what do I have to carry around, and where exactly am I planning on carrying it to? Whatever.

I have just come the the realization that all of Keela's posts are way long and wordy, which I knew before, and that mine are all short and kind of cynical. I prefer blogs with a 3:1 picture to word ratio, but that doesn't seem to be happening. Keela may be influencing my blogging habits.

Fashion Divided

BAM.
We're back baby.

I would like to issue an apology to our tons of readers, cause we have been horrible bloggers recently. PLUS, now that I look back at that fashion post, I think that I should say that that post was completely and oddly influenced by Style Rookie . I read it all in one week. I don't want to post about fashion. I want to post about the triple crown and my interest catamarans.
I hope your down with that.

Update:
Today I asked Keela if she wanted to post tonight and she said "sure," she has a fashion designer she wants to write about.
See why we write this blog?

Lily

That is the true story.
And here goes my FASHION commentary.

The Olsen twins have hit it hard with The Row.
And I am a fan.
This is my kind of collection.

"The Row's style philosophy does not believe in trends, but rather places a sharp focus on clean lines, ultra-refined silhouettes, and the perfect fit."
AMEN. PRAISE THE LORD.

In the April issue of Vogue, when asked about their audience, the twins replied, "they mostly are business women, artists, architects...who understand good fabrics and cut."
AMEN. PRAISE THE LORD.

p.s I wore an entirely all black outfit on Easter Sunday.
