Bringing Home The Gold

Shaun White hit big air at Cyprus Mountain on Wednesday night.
I didn't just notice his Double McTwist (sounds like a new addition to the McDonald's dollar menu...), but his fashion statement as well.  The members of the US 2010 Winter Olympic Snowboard Team were outfitted in an All-American uniform: a defining statement of true power, perseverance, and undeniable style.

"THESE UNIFORMS HAVE BEEN HAND CRAFTED BY BURTON SNOWBOARDERS FOR THE OLYMPIC ATHLETES TO REPRESENT THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IN THE 2010 WINTER OLYMPICS, VANCOUVER, CANADA. WEAR WITH PRIDE."

Against the white backdrop of Cyprus Mountain, the snowboard attire of each team is their only recognizable identity marker. Yes, we can spot the flailing orange hair of Shaun White,
but for the other less-known athletes, what distinguishes them from everyone else? Well, for starters, their Olympic attire.
Their attire has come to represent the greatest part of the Olympics: unified pride.

What is so great about the US snowboarding garb these games? The classic yet modern presence of the plaid and 'denim' textures.
The Burton-created outfit has a Ralph Lauren-esque feel, and it captures the momentum and progressive energy of the US Snowboard Team.
We see the plaid and denim blur through the blue sky atop the halfpipe and over the white iced jumps of the snowboard cross run.
We feel pride. We see gold.

In Reality I am not much of a sports follower. Coming into these Olympics i knew 4 athletes by name, and sport (sort of), Lindsey Vonn, Shaun White, Apolo Ohno, and Hannah Teeter, who happens to have a Ben & Jerry's flavor named after her, which is who I even know she exists.
But what I do know is this:
Lindsey Vonn's hat should be mine. I love camaraderie, I love the United States, and I love Ralph Lauren.

Olympics

Plus this hat is from the little boy's section, what could be better?
