A poem Laura Maltby wrote for our 12th grade Biology class:
Do you know what a giraffe is?
A short neck animal with short neck kids.
As their food on the ground kept getting higher,
Their necks had to grow so their mouths wouldn't get drier.
The long neck giraffes seemed to have all the luck,
So the short giraffes knew they needed to get out of the muck.
The taller the trees, the longer the necks,
Soon the giraffes were up on the deck.
Now all the giraffes were big and tall,
No more short necks to let the pack fall.
